Creative Katz is led by Andrew Katz (friends call him, “Drew”), a multidisciplinary creative director, designer, photographer, and entrepreneur that has owned and operated several businesses and served as a versatile consultant and advisor for companies, small and large. He has over 25 years of experience working with companies in industries ranging from healthcare to hospitality. Having received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MBA from Babson College, Katz’s approach to creative problem-solving blends innovative thinking with practical, analytical strategies.
Drew started his professional career by opening Gallery Katz, a Boston-based fine art gallery featuring formalist works rooted in architecture and design. The gallery is recognized as the first to give artist Shepard Fairey a solo exhibition in Boston. During this period, and continuing up to today, Drew actively pursued his fine art photography practice under the pseudonyms Remi Thornton and Whirly Nerd. These identities became synonymous with night photography and aerial photography, respectively, serving as both distinct bodies of work and performative extensions of his artistic practice.
While attending graduate school, he shifted focus and founded Creative Katz, a full-service creative agency centered on graphic and web design. After several years of working with small, independently owned businesses as well as larger brands such as Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield, he assumed the role of Chief Creative Officer at a mid-size integrated agency providing creative services, public relations, and marketing for organizations ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
In late 2019, Drew joined Graffito SP, a Boston-based real estate development firm focused on complex ground floor leasing and activation projects, to advance its brand and improve marketing efforts. Upon his arrival, he founded Graffito ID (GID), a standalone, award-winning creative agency offering businesses in the restaurant, retail, and real estate industries a suite of services including branding, identity, environmental graphics, website design, and photography. Katz also hosts, writes, and produces The Graffito Podcast for the firm.
